One thing that is so underrated about Rodney’s skating and all of the bones brigade skaters is their style. Other skaters that I’ve seen do insane stuff in many ways just felt like stunts or tricks vs art. Mullen, Hawk, McGill, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero all had style. Stacey Parelta making The Bones Brigade and caring about those dudes is one of the best team leader, coach, mentor, manager, company co owner stories there will ever be.

I always gave Rodney the nod over Daewon in their spots, despite both being God-tier imo. But I have to say, while Rodney does crazier things with his board, the board *is* an extension of Daewon's body like I've never seen in any other skater.

Incredible what restrictions will do to a real artist. Van Gogh had mental disorders, Ray Charles was blind and Rodney had to start skating at a flat, small piece of concrete slab in the backyard of his childhood home, where he invented this insane skating style, at a time where an ollie was considered impossible.
